Promoting Healthy Retail in Hispanic Communities
Free Webinar on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 2 pm EDT
Please join the Nuestras Voces (Our Voices) National Hispanic Network to Reduce Tobacco-Related and Cancer Health Disparities for its next scheduled webinar, “Promoting Healthy Retail in Hispanic Communities.” This webinar is FREE and open to all, but requires registration.
Healthy food retail programs can increase the availability of fruits and vegetables in communities that lack access to supermarkets. With the option to tap into federal, state, and local funding streams, Hispanic communities have opportunities to add healthy food retail to a toolbox of policies for tackling diet-related diseases. Some programs have also successfully integrated tobacco control measures, helping to improve the overall health of the community.
Join us to hear policy experts discuss proven strategies, and learn how community advocates are advancing this public health agenda on the ground in Hispanic communities. Guest speakers include Ana Ramos from The Food Trust, who works with small storeowners in Camden, NJ, and Kymberly Lacrosse of the United Way of Santa Cruz, who empowers Hispanic youth to take charge of their food environments.
