The Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan is seeking a Health Education & Chronic Disease Department Director at its central office in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan.

The Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan, Inc. (ITC) is a state chartered 501 C3 non-profit organization consisting of twelve federally recognized Indian Tribes in Michigan. Full-time permanent positions receive group term life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, health insurance (BCBS) and a 401(K) Retirement plan. Job Summary:

Lead the department in assessing population health and identify disparities for multi-site grant funded community-based Health Education & Chronic Disease programs. Develop comprehensive programs, prepare and submit grant proposals, and manage budgets. Serve as Principal Investigator on multiple grants, as well as a Program Manager on a grant. Supervise and provide strategic direction to the department administrative support staff and program managers. Organize workflow and ensure employees understand their duties and delegated tasks.

Job Specifications:

Master’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Education, or related health field required. Five years professional experience in related field required. Experience working with Tribal organizations preferred. Successful grant writing experience required. Must be able to work with and respect cultural differences. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required. Strong computer skills necessary. Preference given to qualified Native Americans.

Salary:           Minimum starting salary $70,720
