Funding Opportunity: 2017 Tobacco-Free College Program for Community Colleges and Minority-Serving Institutions.

The Truth Initiative is awarding grants up to $20,000 to community colleges and minority-serving institutions adopting tobacco-free policies. This 17-month program supports comprehensive smoke-free campus initiatives. Two informational webinars are scheduled for August 16 and September 14 at 3 p.m. ET. Applications close October 11, 2017.

FDA announces comprehensive regulatory plan to shift trajectory of tobacco-related disease, death

The FDA announced a comprehensive tobacco regulation plan targeting addiction at its core. By lowering nicotine levels in cigarettes to non-addictive amounts and encouraging safer alternatives, the agency aims to prevent 5.6 million young people from dying prematurely due to tobacco use while helping current smokers quit.
