Cancer in Rural Communities: A GW Cancer Center Community of Practice

Pour a cup of tea, let’s talk about rural cancer control!

The GW Cancer Center Technical Assistance Program (TAP) invites you to join a new Community of Practice (CoP) to enhance your knowledge of cancer in rural communities!  Open to all CCC program staff and coalition representatives.

  • Meet monthly for 90 minutes, February through July
  • Discuss basics of rural cancer
  • Connect with diverse range of experts in rural cancer control
  • Share real-world examples
  • Connect to other CCC peers

This community of practice aims to increase confidence in your ability to:

  1. Use rural data to identify or improve priorities.
  2. Identify and address barriers to cancer care for people in rural communities.
  3. Identify appropriate PSE strategies to achieve cancer plan objectives.
  4. Find and engage appropriate partners.
  5. Include rural-focused PSE strategies in cancer plan and/or work plan.

  • Psychosocial Support – July 23

While not required, participation in all six sessions is strongly encouraged.
