Lori is Parents against Vaping’s (PAVe’s) Parent Outreach and Education Manager. She is also a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist, trained by the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Since 2020, Lori has played an active role in helping stop the tobacco industry from addicting a new generation and keeping them addicted through:

  • Advocating for changing public health policy through collaboration with organizations, such as Parents Against Vaping, the American Heart Association, POW’R Against Tobacco, Tobacco-Free Kids, and Truth Initiative
  • Participating in public health advocacy campaigns, such as Tobacco Kills NY and Flavors Hook Kids
  • Working strategically with the media to increase awareness and create a favorable environment for policy change

Lori is also a veteran brand marketer, advertising executive, and marketing consultant for corporations, non-profits, and agencies. Unique in breadth and depth of client-side and agency experience across all marketing disciplines.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this activity, the healthcare team will be able to:

1.  Identify and apply effective communication strategies to educate youth and caregivers about the risks of nicotine, vaping, and co-use with cannabis.

2. Integrate empathetic, evidence-based approaches into clinical and community settings to address youth nicotine dependence—prioritizing education, behavioral support, and treatment over judgment or punitive responses.

3. Support improved youth health outcomes by referring to evidence-based cessation tools, recognizing early signs of use, and advocating for stronger regulations and enforcement to reduce access to harmful products.

Target Audience:
Physicians, nurses, social workers, health educators, administrators, and support staff working with American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities.

The IHS Clinical Support Center designates this live activity for 1 hour of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for each hour of participation.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses
This activity is designated 1.0 contact hour for each hour of participation.

Social Workers

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, the IHS Clinical Support Center is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 1.0 clinical continuing education credit.
