HANNAHVILLE, Mich. – Tuesday was the first day customers could take advantage of the fresh produce and meats at the Hannahville Farmer’s Market. The Health Department started the farmers market about three years ago to encourage local and healthy eating. They also have cooking demonstrations with the produce you can buy from one of their local vendors at the market and an EBT machine.
“Michigan Bridge Card users can come here and use their EBT cards to buy local produce and support local vendors,” said Shanna Hammond, health educator.
At the market you can buy vegetables that you can plant at home. The plants are provided by the Youth Farm Stand.
“You get to interact with other people, you get to come outside, you get to grow vegetables,” said Carsyn Brunette. “Plus you get to learn how to garden,” added Brylea Johnson.
The market happens every Tuesday from 11:30 am until 4:30 pm through September.
