SEARHC Tobacco Program shares info at 3A Eastern Regional Basketball Tournament
SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Sitka, Alaska hosted a table at the 3A Eastern Regional Basketball Tournament, at Mt. Edgecumbe High School, in March. Different departments from SEARHC manned the table during the three day event.
The Tobacco Program shared information on chemicals in tobacco products that are also in household products, the Tar Jar, Quitline materials, and vape fact sheets. There was nutrition information, portion sizing, information on adequate sleep, hydration, and physical activity. Additionally there were resources on mental health that SEARHC provides along with national hotlines, and suicide prevention cards. Topping off the table was dental information, materials, and SEARHC swag.
SEARHC employees also promoted the Move For a Cause campaign that will start up on April 1 and assisted individuals in signing up early. The event encourages physical activity for the month of April for all ages.
A highlight was a bingo game created with sets of questions with the answers able to be found on all the materials on the tables. The game was played each day to engage people and also entered them into drawings for prizes that included mini-bluetooth speakers and SEARHC swag was given to those that participated.
