Talking Circles
Folks at CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) are looking for Native young adults who want to join talking circles about the Eagle Books series. They want to ask about cultural strengths and traditions in preventing injury and violence. Here’s a link to the Eagle book series on diabetes prevention: https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/ndwp/eagle-books/index.html
Time commitment
3 or 4 full days over a 1-2 year period
Ages they are looking for
18-22 year olds
Compensation
They will pay for your travel, hotel stay, and per diem… so for example, if the talking circles are held in Atlanta, GA, the government per diem rate is about $70/ day
Remember…
This is a great opportunity to learn more about public health, qualitative (“talking”) research, and how CDC gathers data from different populations to inform the promotional materials they distribute. Also your insights will help to make the books they create more culturally appropriate, which is much needed.
