Webinar Video Screening – “Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic”


The Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan’s National Native Network with Indian Health Service Clinical Support Center (Accredited Provider) present a webinar series:  Cancer Risk Reduction in Indian Country.

Title:  Someone You Love:  The HPV Epidemic

The National Native Network, the American Indian Cancer Foundation, and the Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan have partnered to present opportunities for education on HPV and cervical cancer awareness during Women’s Health Week.  On May 13, this partnership is showing “Someone You Love:  The HPV Epidemic,” and a live Q&A session with Gynecologic Oncologiest, Dr. Amanda Bruegl (Oneida & Stockbridge-Munsee) later in the day.  There is no cost to attend any of these events.

Learning Outcomes/Objectives:

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  1. Examine the USPSTF guidelines for cervical cancer screening, age, screening methods, and intervals.
  2. Describe the current adolescent and adult dosing schedules for the HPV vaccine.
  3. Identify the physical and emotional burdens associated with cervical cancer and its impact on victims and families.
  4. Utilize the HPV Roundtable tools and the content of the Someone You Love:  HPV Epidemic documentary to identify the burden of disease associated with the HPV virus.

Target Audience:  Physicians, nurses, health educators, administrators, and support staff working with American Indian and/or Alaska Native communities.

Continuing Education:

To obtain a certificate of continuing education, you must be registered for the course, participate in the webinar in its entirety and submit a completed post-webinar survey.  The post-webinar survey will be emailed to you after the completion of the course.  Certificates will be mailed to participants within four weeks by the Indian Health Service (IHS) Clinical Support Center.


In support of improving patient care, IHS Clinical Support Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The IHS Clinical Support Center designates this live activity for 1 hour of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for each hour of participation.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This activity is designated 1.0 contact hour for each hour of participation.
